Project Overview
Estatelab provides landlords with a tool to manage their properties, plots, buildings and tenants. This includes calculating costs, analysing finances and creating tenant contracts.
My Contributions
Along with another designer, I have recently been working on Estatelab's new property management web app. Using established branding and design systems, I have been conducting basic research, creating user flows, and wireframes. The role also includes some marketing work; In which I have been creating content for Estatelab's socials and their pitch decks.
Design Process for Estatelab
Competitive benchmarking
Usability Huerusitcs
Wireframes

The design process for Estatelab is slightly more streamlined than typical. The process normally involves a small amount of research followed up with design mockups and then polished wireframes.

Before designing for Estatelab I will first carry out competitive benchmarking against industry leaders and / or competitors to see what they're doing well or perhpaps not so well. I will use my findings from the analysis along with usability heuristics to design new pages that meet user needs and stakeholder requirements. Further down the line we aim to conduct usability tests and interviews to help validate these designs.

* N.B. Example below shows snippets of the competitive benchmarking and the designed wireframes for the 'events' section of Estatelab. A similar research and design process is carried out for all pages and sections of the app.

A homepage to catch users attention
Estatelab wanted a homepage that positioned them as the most cutting edge solution on the marketplace.

We additionally wanted to show plenty of images of the product itself to show prospective clients what to expect from the tool and demonstrate its value.
Account creation and setting up your portfolio
We started by looking at account creation and users setting up their portfolios.

For sign up we followed best practice and reviewed how some of the most user friendly sites solve account creation.

Next when looking at portfolio creation and data input. We reviewed competitors and also looked at document based solutions that property owners use to house their data.

Users have the ability to add several different types of information including portfolio, properties, buildings, plots, tenants and contracts. It was integral that the data input was fast and frictionless to allow users to get the most out of the product as soon as possible.
Organising thousands of documents into one convenient space
Property owners often have hundreds or thousands of documents that they need quick access to. As mentioned above this includes documents about portfolios, properties, buildings, plots, tenants and contracts. Now that we'd designed how users can enter their data into the system, we needed to work on how they'd access it as easily as possible.

For this we worked closely with Estatelab to understand how they manage their properties and what they'd expect from the solution.
Unlocking users data
Once your information is added, the true power of Estatelab is revealed. You can now analyse your data and make findings you'd never have without Estatelab.
